Letter from Mary Cruise re Frank and John Looby

My mother was Eileen Frawley and Martin Frawley (grandfather) was head constable in the RIC

By Mary Cruise

I am looking for a family called Looby who lived in Lough Mask cottages in 1919.

There was a Frank and John Looby who were about 9-11 yrs at that time. I visited the museum in Ballinrobe last year and was told that the family left the area/died during the 1940's. They have descendants that I cannot contact.

There is a picture of these boys in a site called "old Ballinrobe photos"  its a long way down the page.

It was sent in by John Doherty who got it from the Bridge Magazine circa 1977 (that is written on top of the photo). It is a class or club of boys and the Looby brothers are in that photo. Their name is down as Loeby but I am told that that name is not in existence. It's correct spelling is Looby.  My grandfather Martin Frawley was head constable in the RIC in Ballinrobe during that time I think.  My mother Eileen Frawley was born in Ballinrobe.  The Looby is unconnected to the Frawleys.

Thanks in advance

My grandmother was Bridie Looby from Mask cottages - sister of Frank and John. I know the family history.
