The Boycotts shopped in Ballinrobe and visited their friends in the Barracks regularly

Not only did the Boycotts visit Ballinrobe to do their shopping/ordering of goods, they also visited their friends here and the cavalry barracks.

The Hussars who protected him as he fled in a red-cross wagon were based  in the local barracks in Ballinrobe.

Many reporters visited Ballinrobe trom all over the world to cover the story and trials and stayed at the Valkenburg Hotel while in town.
