In relation to the article Tourmakeady attack: four police dead, flight in the mountains (just click on link to read the original article) Jake Ferguson very kindly shared this ‘clearer photo’ of the South Mayo Flying Brigade with us.Jake is the great-grandson of John Ferguson who was no. 21 in the group photo of the S. Mayo brigade at Moorehall in 1921.

His great-uncle Patrick J Moran was killed during the Irish Civil War in Kilkearn 1922 and John Ferguson and Patrick Moran are buried in their family plot in Ballinrobe, Co. Mayo.

His Grandpa John Ferguson Jr is the son of the man with the tommy-gun in the S. Mayo Brigade photo.

 Thanks Jake, the clearer photo does make such a difference.
