Celebrating Our Irish Women
Would you like to acknowledge An Irish Woman?
Ballinrobe Historical Society
In 1918, the right to vote was extended to include women over 30 years old, and who held property valued at £5. It would be another 10 years before the franchise was extended to all women over 21 years.
To commemorate this centenary and the vital contribution of women to Irish life and society, we are looking for your stories of Irish women who you feel have made a difference in your community: stories of success, struggle, or of quiet diligence.
Please contact us if you have any queries or forward your stories to ballinrobehistorysite@gmail.com
It would be great if you had a photo to add to your story.
